For the second time this season Ashton Harrison, a native Atlanta and product of the local car scene, has made the podium on both days of the Grand Prix of Atlanta. She competes in the Pro Am class of the Lamborghini Super Trefeo series. During this last weekend at Road Atlanta she finished 3rd in class, 9th overall Day 1 (Round 5) and 2nd in class, 5th overall on Day 2 (Round 6).
The team nearly scored their first overall class win of this year. The team has been consistently one of the top contenders in their class.
This weekend was really fun. In race two we had a great victory and we were so close to having a first-place podium. The last five minutes of the race were crazy as we were sitting in third and then a mechanical happened with the leader and we ended up finishing in second. We just needed one more lap because we were right on the tail of the Change Racing Lamborghini.

Ashton and teammate Andrea Amici piloted the No. 25 Harrison Contracting Lamborghini Hurcan to their second second dual podium weekend time this year. They pair also made the podium during both rounds of the Road America race a few weeks ago.
It was a stunning performance by the Wayne Taylor Racing team this weekend. Ashton drove really well this weekend. During race two we pitted early and were running in third position and I was catching the first and second place cars in front of me. I was so close the Change Racing Lamborghini at the end, so maybe with one more lap we could have passed them.

The Grand Prix of Atlanta which took place this past labor day weekend at Road Atlanta, was a one off race for 2020. The event was a replacement for the Watkins Glen race which was canceled due to COVID-19. However, we certainly hope IMSA considers making a second Atlanta race a staple in the series.
The team now looks to break through and claim that first overall class podium finish next at Laguna Seca. The opportunity to achieve this at the iconic Northern California Raceway likely just adds extra motivation.
Also be on the lookout for Ashton and team to be back in Atlanta in just over a month for the Petit Le Mans. Ashton is always eager to run the premiere local race and have another opportunity for a podium finish in front of her hometown fans.
