Local Atlanta IMSA Racer Ashton Harrison is celebrating back to back podium finishes this past weekend. Ashton, and team mate Andrea Amici, are competing in the North American Lamborghini Super Trofeo series which kicked off it’s season at Road America. Competing in the Pro Am class they finished 2nd in class/6th overall in Round 1 and 3rd in class/7th overall in Round 2 during the race at Road America.
Ashton is coming off of an impressive initial season where she became the first women to win at the Lamborghini World Finals in Spain last year. After her breakout performance in LB Cup class she has stepped up this year to the Pro Am class running a Wayne Taylor racing car.
Getting back to back podium finishes in her first race is a another huge accomplishment for the young racer. The team managed this despite a pitstop problem that cost them nearly 10 seconds.
“I think we are on pace and the team is obviously great because they gave us a great car. It was unfortunate that we had a little mishap in the pits, but it doesn’t stop that we are capable of running up in the front with those guys. This is just the start of the championship and we’re looking forward to how this plays out the rest of the year. I do think we have a shot.”
