Last Event at Atlanta Dragway

As most of you know by now, the National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) has sold the drag strip most frequented by car loving Atlantans. Despite trying to find a buyer that would keep the track functioning as a drag strip, it has been sold to a developer that will tear it all down and redevelop the property as a mixed use development.

The whole thing is sad for those of us that have memories of Fast Friday’s, club events and watching NHRA drag races. Also, given the uptick in street racing around Atlanta, it’s also a bummer that this track is closing and making it even harder to find a way to race legally.

The final chance to watch a car do down this iconic track is at an event called “Night Of Fire” that goes down on Saturday October 16th 2021. The event starts early in the morning (8am) and finishes up with fireworks after the final car has gone down the track about 8:45pm.

If you have memories of Atlanta Dragway, we’d love for you to share them with us on Facebook.
