🚒Houston County Fire Department’s Peer Support Team is hosting its very 1st Car Show! 🚒

It’s no secret that first responders see the worst of the worst while on the job. For perspective, the average person goes through about 8 traumatic events in their lifetime…. First responders go through 500+ throughout their career.
Sometimes those calls/events stick with the first responder for weeks, months or even years causing a mental battle with that responder. That’s where the Peer Support Team comes in.

HCFD has 13 fully dedicated, certified members apart of the Peer Support Team from all walks of life that have all struggled with mental health and traumatic events throughout their lives & careers. This is team is deployable at a moments notice all over the state and assists in mental health debriefs after traumatic calls, offers multiple types of assistance to any first responder (law enforcement, EMS, Fire, dispatch, etc)

But in order to do that, funds have to be available. The goal of this show is to raise funds for HCFD’s Peer Support Team to better assist members that, even though they signed up to help the public, still need help themselves.

This money will be used 100% in support of the Peer Team’s mission to help protect first responders and assist them when they are struggling with their mental health.

More details will follow, but we are confident the community will show up and show out, helping us accomplish our goals. We will also be posting statistics in reference to first responders mental health.
