IMSA WeatherTech Series Schedules Return

A challenging year to say the least for IMSA racing, the series has some good news. IMSA recently has begun updating their schedule for their planned returned to live racing. While the virtual series has kept fans engaged and even helped grow the fan base thanks to little competing sporting events, it will be great to see the series return to live action.

All of this has been against the backdrop of a number of postponed races due to COVID-19, as well as the announcement that Porsche will not run factory backed GTLM teams in IMSA for 2021 due to the economic fallout. IMSA hopes that July begins turning the corner on this tough season. It will be interesting to see if they can turn these struggles into opportunity as NASCAR has seemingly been able to do.

The series will restart at the Daytona 240 on July 3rd and 4th. It follows just a few weeks later on the 17th and 18th with Sebring. While logistically having the first two races in Florida will be ideal, expect high temperatures for fans.

Local in Atlanta is the already announced and rescheduled Petit Le Mans on October 14th thru 17th. If you’ve never been it is one of the Atlanta area’s premiere racing events. It’s also the last chance to see those Factory Backed GTLM cars from Porsche.
