Part motorsports bar, part speakeasy, Dryver Bar recently opened in Buckhead. Located on the side of Yeppa and Co., an Italian restaurant just across the street from Fado’s in Buckhead Village.
This semi-speakeasy bar is accessed by ringing a bell. Inside you are greeted by a small bar decked out in neon, but then it hits you. The neon lights are also track outlines. The tables made out of old oil barrels. This entire bar is inspired by and a celebration of F1 racing.
In fact, the theme specifically takes inspiration not just from F1, but is designed as a celebration of “motor valley” the home of Ferrari, Lamborghini and other high end Italian motorsports brands, according to a recent Eater Atlanta article. Then they fill in with F1 references, with heavy emphasis on American’s recent love affair with F1 – Circuit of the America’s, Miami and Las Vegas.
Even the menu is filled with pictures of F1 racing action and track outlines. The craft cocktails, expertly prepared are also named with F1 themes in mind. And yet, despite all of this nothing comes off as terribly cheesy. Rather, it seems thoughtful with a focus on celebrating their love of F1.
Since the bar is small, only about 40 seats, reservations are accepted, which is a pleasant treat. The bar itself only has about 8 seats. This is designed to be a special, intimate experience. Something to be savoyed rather than run through.
When hours of operations align with F1 races – projectors will come down from the ceiling allowing the bar to become the perfect viewing location. When the races are not happening, the projectorss fold back up for a TV free experience.
