Atlanta Getting Second NASCAR Race In 2021

NASCAR released some details of their 2021 schedule today, and for Atlanta Motorsports fan there is some exciting news. Atlanta will be hosting a second NASCAR race in 2021, in addition to the Folds of Honor event that traditionally runs in the spring. The second event, which will be known as Quaker State 400 Presented by Walmart is scheduled for Sunday July 11th. Both events will be help at Atlanta Motor Speedway in Hampton, GA.

We’re beyond excited to deliver what our fans have been yearning for: a second weekend of NASCAR action in Atlanta once again, Folds of Honor and QuikTrip continue to be phenomenal partners for our spring weekend of racing and we’re thrilled to have Quaker State and Walmart on board this summer as we put together two weekends of entertainment and excitement for race fans.

NASCAR has not run two Cup series races in Atlanta since 2010. Prior to that Atlanta was regularly home to 2 races, with one generally in the spring and one in the fall.

NASCAR hasn’t run a July race in Atlanta since 1974. However, this years Atlanta NASCAR race was run during the summer due to COVID rescheduling, with 2020’s event run on June 7th.

Our goal is to host as many fans as possible, as safely as we can, to enjoy the excitement of NASCAR in Atlanta

Atlanta motorsports scene has benefited the last few years; while some of of the change has been driven by COVID rescheduling, there appears to be a general trend towards more motorsports events in the Atlanta area. Atlanta also received a second weekend of IMSA races at Road Atlanta this year due to the rescheduled Watkins Glen race. Now with a second NASCAR race Atlanta’s two premiere professional race series have doubled up.
